Year 4 Autumn Term Letter September 2017

Carey Camp

The children loved their adventure at Carey Camp, an Outdoor Education Centre. They all had the opportunity to try tree climbing, archery and a tunnel maze. The children were amazing at encouraging their class mates if they felt nervous about any of the activities - especially tree climbing. There were many more fun team building activities for the children throughout their stay. In the evening, we enjoyed a sing-song around the camp fire before having our hot chocolate and going to bed in the bell tents!

Taste of the UK

In year 4, we have been looking at different foods from the UK. This led us to cooking a traditional Lancashire hot pot and a delicious Dorset Apple Cake. The children put all their cooking skills to use for the hotpot, including peeling the vegetables, chopping and slicing them, as well as cooking the lamb and the stock. All the children tried the food and many were asking for seconds and thirds!

We have had the pleasure of Mr Chambers coaching us cricket this term. Both classes have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the sport and look forward to using all the skills they have learned in upcoming cricket tournaments!

Samba Concert

Over a period of ten weeks, Year 4 have undertaken Samba lessons. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the experience of learning about and playing the whole range of Samba instruments. All the practice led to a phenomenal Samba concert for parents and the rest of the school. I am sure all those who were present will agree the children played their instruments like professionals and put on a wonderful display of Samba sound.
