Special Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs

William Barnes prides itself on being a very inclusive school. We are deeply committed to catering for all needs, no matter what they are, to enable all children to achieve the best they can.

Children have special educational needs if they have a learning difficulty which calls for special education provision to be made for them. They may be finding it more difficult to learn than the majority of children their own age or they may have a disability which stops them from making full use of the educational facilities provided for the children of the same age in school. William Barnes has a team of very skilled and experienced teachers who work closely together to make sure everyone is making progress. Our SENDCo is Mrs Danielle Maynard and our designated governor for SEND is Mrs Rachel Barbet.

If you wish to make a complaint about the support the school provides for a child with SEND, please contact our SENDCO Mrs Maynard in the first instance.  Details of the school’s general complaints procedure can be found in the Policies section of the web site.
