The annual tag rugby tournament led to a third successive Tag cup win for William Barnes despite an extremely close finish.

With bad weather causing the pitches to be flooded at Hazelbury Bryan, Child Okeford teacher Sarah Salisbury kindly offered the playing fields at St Nicholas as an alternative venue.  The standard of the competition was very high, with Hazlebury, Stalbridge, Shillingstone, St. Nicholas’s and William Barnes all having some very good players scoring excellent tries.  After four games played Shillingstone and Child Okeford both had equal numbers of points but Shillingstone had one game in hand.  Unfortunately, in this final crucial match, William Barnes started well and eventually won 7 – 2.  With all games played, Child Okeford, Shillingstone and William Barnes were all tied on points, but for the second time in three years William Barnes won the tournament because of their superior try difference.   It was great to see such a close result and all the children involved were most grateful to St Nicholas for offering to host the tournament.
