Aquathlon Winning Ways

Years 5 and 6 showcased their swimming and running abilities during another successful aquathon. The annual aquathon consists of a team of four swimming 8 lengths of the swimming pool, a quick change and finally running a lap of the recreation ground.

With the sun shining and the marquee full of supporting parents, William Barnes kicked off the event demonstrating all they had learnt from their dedicated teachers during swimming lessons in a superb fashion. Teams from Stalbridge, Hazlebury Bryan and Shillingstone were also in attendance adding to the competitive atmosphere. In total 12 teams competed all clocking up impressive times. In true William Barnes style, our children performed to the highest standard, finishing in five places out of the top seven, with a William Barnes team finishing first clocking in at an outstanding time of 5 minutes and 10 seconds.

Well done to everyone who competed and a big thanks to Mr Hull who ensured the event ran smoothly without a spanner in the works, and Mr Newman for his hard with the pool and sense of humour. (JN)
