Tag Rugby Glory

William Barnes win Pyramid Tag Rugby  One of the most enjoyable events held annually by the local primary schools is the Tag Rugby tournament at Hazelbury Bryan, brilliantly organised by keen PE specialist Peter Scott.

This year’s event had to be renamed a festival because the RFU has decided that children under 11 should only take part in non competitive events with no outright winner.  However, as usual, despite the RFU’s rule changes the children showed great competitive spirit and fair play in all their matches.  When all the games were completed Child Okeford and William Barnes were tied on points, but William Barnes won the event because of their superior try difference.  Playing a direct style of attacking rugby, the team, ably led by sports ambassador Tom Clark were unstoppable.  The teachers and children enjoyed the event so much that further matches were organised for later in the term (see below).
